Despite how much you love you kids, there is only a certain amount of whining a mother can take. Under normal circumstances, you can leave the room or distract them with another task to keep the whining to a minimum. However, when you are trapped inside a car for 8 hours, there is no escape! We will be going on vacation in a few days and I have been desperately trying to think of new ways to keep the girls occupied. I have the normal books, crayons and paper, DVD's, Music, and even a few car games. But even that is not enough to keep their attention for an entire 8 hours (without traffic). So ladies, I'm counting on you and all your creative brilliance to help me out. What do you do to keep your kids busy on those extremely long car rides? How do you avoid hearing, "Are we there yet?" repeatedly? Grab a Latte, Put Up Your Feet, and Join the Discussion!

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. 2. Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish. Tear up the hot dog buns and arrange the pieces in the bottom of the dish evenly. Slice the hot dogs into bite size pieces and layer the pieces over the buns. 3. Pour the chili over the hot dogs, sprinkle with the chopped onion, then spread some mustard over the chili and the onion. Top off with the cheese. 4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
One of the hardest concepts to understand as a child is that the world doesn't revolve around you. My friends and I decided that the best way to teach our children this very important fact of life is through community service acts. Our eight children get together monthly and work on a project that will help others in our community. Each month, one of the kids comes up with an idea and the other seven help make the idea become a reality.
For our first month, we collected can goods and delivered cooked meals to the local food bank. The following month, we created and decorated cookie mixes in a jar. We sold them to help raise money for a local boy fighting cancer. This month we will be making bracelets at a local store and donating them the children at our county's hospital. Next month, when the weather is a little less wet, we will be on our plastic gloves and cleaning up our community.
Although, these services may not seem like much, they are a huge deal to those we reach and I am so proud of our kids and how they are learning to think of others besides themselves.
